It's a delight to have Sewanee rising senior seminarian Jacob Hall with us for the month of June. Jacob is from the Diocese of West Virginia and served in the Episcopal Service Corps in Philadelphia between undergrad and seminary.
Last Sunday, Jacob sang tenor in our first-Sunday summer family choir and joined us in representing St Paul's in the Pride Parade. This Sunday, he will be our preacher. I know you'll want to support him in person or online as he preaches and to hear the word that God has for you through him.
To learn more about the life of a parish priest, Jacob is also attending staff and committee meetings, making pastoral visits, joining next week's vestry meeting, and shadowing me on other tasks of priestly life in Key West.
Even as a relatively small congregation in the Episcopal Church, we can have an outsize impact by accepting requests from our Episcopal seminaries to host seminarians who need additional hours for their contextual education. It's a blessing and a privilege to play a part in this very practical way in the formation of the next generation of Episcopal clergy.
Thank you for welcoming Jacob and for supporting him and other seminarians through your regular tithes and offerings, a portion of which goes via the Diocese of Southeast Florida to the School of Theology at Sewanee: The University of the South.
