Pride Ride

04Jun

Happy Pride, everyone!

Isn't it wonderful to be part of a congregation and denomination of Jesus followers that strives for justice and peace and affirms the dignity of every human being?

Not all of us grew up with that kind of welcome and affirmation. Finding it is a significant part of what makes the Episcopal Church and St Paul's, Key West home for us.

There are still lots of folks--including many who will be visiting Key West for Pride--who don't know that there are Christians who are and who affirm LGBTQIA+ folks. This is the best evangelism there is: be good news by being who you are. We have that opportunity every day, and it's heightened this week.

On Sunday at our 7:30 AM and 10 AM Eucharists we will celebrate Pride. And on Sunday evening, we'll participate in the annual Key West Pride Parade. We are registered as a group of "holy rollers," as it were. We're riding in the Pride parade.

So, come on your scooter, electric bike, regular bike, or other rolling transport (Big Wheel, anyone?) and line up at Waterfront Park by no later than 6:30 PM Sunday. The parade steps--er, rolls--off at 7 PM sharp.

We'll have our rainbow umbrella hats available, and please wear your St Paul's Pride or other T shirt and/or other suitable swag.

Let's once again be good news in the streets of our island city!
