Winsome Witness

26Jun

On Saturday, June 28, I will represent you as the preacher at the annual commemoration of The Reverend Dr Pauli Murray (whose feast day in July 1) at Trinity Cathedral in Miami. It promises to be a beautiful day in which faith, pride, hope, and persistence are all celebrated and on display. If you'd like to learn more about Murray's amazing life, the film My Name Is Pauli Murray is available on Amazon Prime.

On Sunday, June 29, we will welcome our siblings from St Peter's to worship with us at 10 AM as we celebrate Peter, Paul, and Pride. The Reverend Ed Gomez will preach, and I will preside. Please bring something tasty to share at the repast/coffee hour following the service in the parish hall. On Sunday afternoon, we will show our pride in the annual Key West Pride Parade, offering a winsome Anglican witness in the streets.

Many of you are, we trust, happily ensconced in your "other" places that are not in Key West or the Lower Keys. We wish you joyous celebrations of Pride and Independence now and upcoming.

Many of you, like Becky and me, are regular contributors to St Paul's through online giving. Our giving portal makes it very easy to input the amount of your annual pledge and specify the frequency with which you prefer to pay it. This "set it and forget it" quality is especially appealing for all of us who give online when we are out of town.

Most of our regular operating costs at St Paul's hold fairly steady year round. Four times each year we have a significant outlay for insurance on the buildings. Averaged over the year, however, it costs right around $65,000.00 per month to pay all our bills.

Historically, May is our lowest giving month at St Paul's. That has been the case again in 2025. Please, if you haven't made a contribution to St Paul's since you departed Key West for your "other" place, make one soon. Better yet, join us in the scheduled online giving group so you don't have to think about it. Thank you for your ongoing, generous support of St Paul's. Through all our gifts and by God's grace, we are able to be light and salt here at the end of the road.
