How's your Lenten journey going so far? Have you landed on the loving service you will render in the season?
Here are some loving service options on offer with and through St Paul's:
1) ABC Sale: A dedicated crew of St Paul's folks have been working since it was still Epiphany season to prepare for the third annual ABC Sale on Saturday, January 24. They need some more volunteers to work the sale on Saturday. Can you volunteer an hour or more to assist between 7 AM and 2 PM? You can notify the office that you're coming or reach out to the principal sale organizers, Greta Philips-Ford, Judy Sandground, and Jennifer Trapani. You can also just show up and offer to work. Every penny raised will go to support Good Samaritan Episcopal School in Bondeau, Haiti through the South Florida Haiti Project.
2) Lenten Love Across the Straits: Purchases from the Cuba Needs List 2024 on Amazon (https://a.co/bcl8H2Q) have begun arriving at the church office. Praise God and thank you. You can purchase items from that list and Amazon will deliver them directly, or you can buy the items on the list locally and bring them to the office yourself. We will use the Ash Wednesday offerings and alms to purchase these items also. If you wish, you can also donate online directly to the Cuba Mission. In Easter week, these foodstuffs and vitamins St Paul's has collected and those that Trinity Cathedral in Miami has collected will be delivered to Holy Trinity Cathedral in Havana for distribution.
3) Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry: We are expanding our support of a steady supply of staple foodstuffs for the Florida Keys Outreach Coalition's food pantry at Fifth and Patterson to a year-round effort. Please bring items you purchase to campus and place them in the black bin marked Loaves and Fishes. During the week, the bin is at the top of the chancel steps under the red velvet rope inside the church building. On Sunday mornings, you can bring your items up as you go forward to communion. The bin will be in front of the organ during services, very near the laundry jug for Loads of Love.
4) Loads of Love: Our amazing community laundry ministry, Loads of Love, continues year round. You can contribute money toward this mission of loving service through our online giving page, by mail, or in the Loads of Love jug near the organ during services. You can also volunteer to staff this ministry at local laundromats once a month. Reach out to Sarah Kindinger in person or by email to find out more.
Thank you for all the ways you support these and other ministries in Key West and the Lower Keys and not so far away in Cuba and Haiti. May God continue to bless our Lenten journey of loving service in Christ's name.
