My mother's favorite Christmas carol was "There's a Song in the Air." It's a joyful and spirited celebration of Christmas that draws together music, creation, the human family, the host of heaven, and the Christ. Doesn't that fairly well sum up what our life together is about?
"There's a Song in the Air" is also the theme for the Keys Choral Arts concert on Sunday, December 14 at 4 PM at the Tennessee Williams Theater. I hope you will join that annual musical celebration if you can. Our own Tim Peterson is the conductor, and many St Paul's folks sing in the chorus.
Many of the same people sang excerpts from G. F. Handel's "Messiah" last Sunday evening in the forty-second annual community choir performance of that work at Old Stone Church. I was delighted to sing with them and super proud as Dean Warden and Tricia Coyne sang beautiful solos and Tim played piano.
There are many more annual musical events and community events, such as the Belighted Bike Ride (Friday night), the Key West Hometown Holiday Parade (Saturday night), and the Eaton Street Christmas Stroll (Sunday afternoon).
I look forward to seeing you in the parish hall of St Paul's, the nave of St Peter's, and/or various places around town as we keep this season before Christmas preparing for the Advent of the Christ in Bethlehem, at the end of the age, and in our hearts.
