Raising Jairus' Daughter

In Memory of Blanche Stanhope Reynolds Born Aug. 26, 1862 - Oct. 7, 1918
DESCRIPTION: In the window a man, a woman and Jesus are standing beside the bedside of a young girl. Jesus is holding the child's right hand in his. His left hand is upraised.
THE STORY: The window depicts one of Jesus' miracles as told in the New Testament Gospels. It tells of Jairus, one of the leaders of the synagogue, who implored Jesus to come to his home and lay His hands on his little daughter that she might recover from her serious illness.
Before they reached the house, it was reported that she was dead. Jesus said to Jairus, "Do not fear, only believe." Taking her by the hand He said to her, "Little girl, I say to you, arise," and immediately the girl got up and walked. (Mark 5:41-42)
MEMORIAL: Blanche Stanhope Reynolds, nee Williams, was the daughter of Cortland Parker Williams, remembered in the Mitre Roundel (Window #11) and Drucilla Duke Williams, remembered in the Pomegranate Roundel (Window #10). Blanche was born in Key West on August 26, 1862 and in February 1883 married George W. Reynolds, cigar maker, lawyer, and Clerk of the Circuit Court from 1893 to 1905. Their children were William, Joseph, Clara, one child who died in infancy, and an adopted daughter, Natalie.
George Reynolds designed and built a lovely large home for Blanche on the corner of Flagler Avenue and Reynolds Street. He is remembered in Saint Matthew (Window #123).
