Holy Trinity or Te Deum (Right Panel Detail)
Phipps, Ball & Burnham (conjecture) - Circa 1920
Robert Jasper Perry 1837-1907 Elizabeth Browne Perry 1841-1891 Blessed Parents Noble Lives
DESCRIPTION: The right panel of Holy Trinity completes the feeling of exaltation of the Trinity. Two lovely angels with glorious wings and richly colored garments sing joyously. One is unmistakably singing; the other is strumming a stringed instrument. Above their heads is a banderole which reads:
Which     I have Loved      Long
Since        And Lost          Awhile
MEMORIAL: The panel is in memory of (Ann) Elizabeth Browne Perry, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Nieves Browne and her husband, Dr. Robert Jasper Perry. At the base of this panel are their names, dates of birth, and the words: "Blessed Parents Noble Lives."
Ann Elizabeth was one of the most highly educated and accomplished women reared ni Key West. "Miss Lizzie," as she was affectionately called, was born on October 18, 1841. In 1854 she entered St. Mary's Hall in Burlington, New Jersey, graduating in 1858. She also studied at the Spingler Institute and graduated in 1861. She was accomplished in music, both vocal and instrumental, and was a fluent French scholar. Upon her return to Key West, she taught in a select school for young ladies. She was a devout member of St. Paul's and for many years the leader of the choir.
Dr. Robert Perry, born in Virginia, moved to Tennessee at an early age. After becoming a physician, he came to Florida, practiced medicine in Key West, and operated a drugstore. He was elected mayor and in 1887 also served as Monroe County Superintendent of Public Instruction. Under his administration, a public school was opened and named "Russell Hall."
Robert and Lizzie were married in 1868 and were the parents of William Y., Sidney R., and an adopted daughter, Rose Forbes.
